     K-12 Programs Bay Ecotarium provides immersive field trip and outreach programs that allow students to discover the amazing world of San Francisco Bay through hands-on exploration experiences. Our naturalist led programs support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and include developmentally appropriate, accessible, STEM and conservation education activities. For the 2018-2019 school year, some programs are offered on a scholarship basis or otherwise free of charge to K-12 schools in the nine Bay Area Counties, while others have an associated program fee.      A field trip to Battleship IOWA presents an array of entirely novel stimuli to the student. The features of a battleship compel their attention as it confronts them with features unprecedented in their experience. Most student visitors have never been aboard a ship of any type, much less a vintage WWII warship. They walk through President Roosevelt's private cabin, and climb to the Admiral's Bridge for an unmatched seven-story vista of their historic maritime village. They participate in a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) experience coupled with history creating a well-rounded educational event. Youth Education Field Trip: Follow our mascot (Victory) on his trip aboard Battleship IOWA and participate along the tour route in activities such as knots, pulley's, and ship related activities. The field trip comes with a guide that triggers thinking on critical functions aboard a US Navy ship. Call early to book preferred dates! Day of Discovery: Thousands of students participate annually in the joint program we host with LAUSD Office of Outdoor Education.   Slide Ranch is a nonprofit educational farm on coastal public parkland in West Marin. We host day visits and overnight visits from school and community groups of all ages (pre-k through adult), most typically on Tuesdays-Saturdays. Groups range in size from 6 to 60. Day visits typically occur from 10am-2pm, and include milking our goats, feeding our chickens, an activity in our garden and a cooking activity or a hike. Overnight visits include more involved versions of the same, and also include things like a campfire and/or night hike. Overnight visitors often bring their own camping gear, although we have some gear to lend to groups who need it. Overnight groups also bring their own food for all meals which they cook themselves (we have all the cooking and serving gear - just bring the food). All of our activities are NGSS aligned, and can be taught thematically to match the interests of the group (for example, we can offer themes focusing on "food, clothing and shelter;" natural ecology; food systems; sustainability; stewardship etc). There are costs associated with visiting Slide Ranch, however we offer a wide range of scholarships and work hard to ensure no groups are turned away for lack of funds.      The history of life in the Middle Ages, knights, horsemanship, and chivalry are woven into a fun, interactive 90-minute show that your students will love! Our educational shows are closed to the public to ensure a safe and secure experience. The matinee includes an educational presentation followed by a live tournament where students can cheer for their knight as he competes to be named Champion of the Realm. Dine on a "hands-on" four-course lunch and witness authentic jousting, sword fighting, and medieval games of skill. Watch in awe as magnificent Andalusian stallions perform the beautiful art of dressage and a rare falcon takes flight above the Grand Arena. Homeschoolers welcome at every show with no group minimum! Can't make the matinee? All student groups are welcome to attend our public evening and weekend shows for a discounted rate.
